After a Long TIme

I was away for quite some time. Sigh. My bad.

I had exams and then other important work to attend to. So, didn't get much time to at least write one post. I don't take that as an excuse. But, anyway I'm starting to write here again.

The last two months were very good for cricket. Hope you too were aware of it. It's nice to see T20 gaining acceptance by the ICC as a major form of cricket. It is the way forward for cricket. A lot of the younger people prefer to watch these type of "instant noodles" stuff, as it doesn't waste their precious time. But, purists may think otherwise.

By the way, ICL hasn't got accpetance from the BCCI, yet. That's too bad in the ICL players' point of view. They will have to serve the ban of their respective cricket board. I'm personally against this ban. Players should be allowed to choose what league they prefer to play for.

Let's hope the ICC will intervene to solve this issue. For now, that's it from me. :D

Have nice cricketing day!

The Money Earning T20

Now it's T20 which is the topic of the day. It's all about how much you can earn from it, but not how good it is. Recently, the President of Sri Lanka Cricket told in a press conference that he's not satisfied of players going to play in the IPL, without considering how much money their respective Cricket Boards can make by other tours.

This is not a satisfactory thing for cricket. It's true that cricket players are humans and thus would love to earn quick money by playing T20, but the worrying factor is that more focus will be given T20 alone in the future. Then, what will be the fate of the ODIs and Tests? The ICC will have to think quite a lot on this issue and may be even compelled to put some restrictions on T20 tournaments to be held.

Still T20 is in its infancy. But, the popularity it has gained is far more than anyone would've expected. The IPL was a big success. The cricket stadiums were packed full in almost all of the matches. So, in another 4-5 years it will no wonder be the financial driving source of cricket.

Wonderful Comebacks!

India had lost the 1st Test match to Sri Lanka by an innings and a mammoth 239 runs! South Africa chasing a target of 283 had lost 4 wickets for just 93 runs! But, everything turned in their favour with time.

India which has a good batting line up didn't play well in the first Test against Sri Lanka. But, in the second Test Sehwag showed them the way with an unbeaten 201 n.o. which ultimately was the main factor behind their victory. Sri Lanka bowled well in the second Innings, but their batting led them down heavily. But, this time around the Indian spinners showed their potential by grabbing 15 wickets in the match.

On the other hand, South Africa were in a different situation. Chasing a challenging target of 283, they lost some quick wickets in the middle stage of their innings. But, the skipper Graeme Smith showing a never-give-up attitude batted with AB de Villiers to consolidate their innings. After the dismissal of de Villiers, England would have breathed for some air. But, their relief didn't last for long. It was another partnership by Graeme Smith and Mark Boucher which helped them to cruise to victory.

The never-to-give-up attitude indeed helps you a lot to win. India and South Africa have shown this to the cricket world. So, now let's hope that the other cricket teams will take this an example and start winning as they never did before.
